House of Kayise brings fashion and lifestyle prints into life

Mother Ntombikayise Skosana and her daughter Melody Mazibuko showcase their love for art in a form of colorful and easy to wear African prints that cater for both young and the old.
Melody Mazibuko was born in Mpumalanga, grew up at Kwa-Thema and later moved to Soshanguve, Pretoria.
Mazibuko got the art inspiration from her mom, Ntombikayise Skosana whom she named her business “House of Kayise” after.
Her journey of designing shoes began after she was excluded from of varsity but has been painting and drawing since primary school level.
She sometimes experienced challenges of delivering their ordered customer takkies on time to their respectful places.
“Like any other business, we have had challenges but we also found adequate ways of dealing with them,” said Melody.
They have customers as far as Cape Town and London but they have found reliable and efficient ways of distributing their products all over the world.
They also have retail stores that they supply with their Ndebele takkies such as Shada Store in Johannesburg and trialing some of their Ndebele takkies overseas.
Some of her achievements include an award that she won at the Africa Craft Trust 2017 as one of the Top 25 creatives in South Africa.
"I basically learned how to grow in art business and how to trade internationally. It was a transforming encounter, so thankful for it", said Melody.
Melody urges people to look within their talents and they will go far.
“It never ceases to amaze me how much time people waste searching endlessly for magic shortcuts to entrepreneurial success and fulfillment when the only real path is staring them right in the face. Use your talent,” Melody added.
The House of Kayise plans to have more shops where they will supply customers all over Africa.
They also have a wish to supply their products abroad in Amsterdam shops.
Melody’s most intimate wish is to have an Art Institution where people will be shaped into becoming the best versions of themselves in terms of artistry and entrepreneurship.
She added that young people should be passionate about what they do.
"Passion opens doors. All you need to do is to choose honestly, focus and work smart on what you want to grow,” said Melody.
